The book is divided into three colour-coded sections. The basic knowledge section commences with the anatomy and physiology of the breast, supported with current evidence, and continues with positioning, tandem nursing, and breastfeeding multiples. Particular detail is given to normal and pathological forms of bowel movements of breastfed and formula fed infants. The second section covers breastfeeding difficulties and causes. Some of the topics include the premature and sick newborn infant, ankyloglossia, cleft lip and palate, and extend into lifestyle situations such as piercing and tattoos, all of which are generously documented, based on the latest scientific research. The last section covers breastfeeding tools and alternative feeding methods which are also comprehensively presented.
